Deb Teske completed her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science at State University of New York at Geneseo in 1982 and her Master of Science in Strategic Planning from the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA in 1995. She is a certified Minnesota Emergency Manager and IAEM Certified Emergency Manager (CEM).
Deb has over twenty-six years of management and leadership experience as a Naval Officer through national and international levels, a County Emergency Management Director, and a Mayo Clinic Emergency Management Associate. She has developed implementation plans, emergency management plans and procedures, and numerous outreach programs.
Deb currently works at Mayo Clinic as an Emergency Management Associate where she works with Consultants, Allied Health Staff and multi-disciplinary teams on emergency preparedness, emergency response and other emergency management issues and initiatives.
From 2006 to 2009 Deb coordinated Fillmore County’s response and recovery to two federally declared disasters as its Emergency Management Director. She rewrote the County’s Emergency Operation Plan and established a local Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and Citizen Corps program.
During her twenty years as a Naval Officer, Deb had many challenging assignments including managing the Navy’s implementation of several conventional arms control treaties, serving as the Executive Officer for the Program Management Office, Strategic Systems Program in Pittsfield, MA, and serving on NATO’s International Military Staff in Brussels, Belgium.
Deb has taught college classes for the University of Phoenix, City Colleges of Chicago and the University of Alaska.
Deb volunteers with the local Red Cross and CERT. She also is a Ham Radio Technician and a certified FEMA Trainer.
She is married with two children and lives in Kasson, MN.
